Two $600  packages  at YMCA Snow Mountain or Estes Park Center in Colorado was raffled off at the Montgomery  County Family YMCA on Friday, July 30th, 2010.  2 FREE nights stay in a 3 bedroom cabin was the prize to be used between August 31, 2010 to December 14th, 2010.  This is our second year for this raffle and this year we had 2 packages to raffle off.
Proceeds benefited the YMCA's "Membership  for Everyone" program, a program designed to assist financially disadvantaged youth, adults, families, and older adults  who otherwise would not be able to become members or enjoy programs at the YMCA.     The YMCA was able to raise $ 362 through this program.  To learn more about the YMCA, visit the YMCA located in the beautiful  Red Oak Legion Park, 101 East Cherry Street, or phone the YMCA at 712-623-2161 or visit the Y's website @ www.mcymca.com

4th Annual Community Fall Fun Walk

The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s 4th Annual Community Fall 2-Mile Fun Walk will be held on Sunday, September 26 beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the YMCA.

Participants will have the option to either go outside to walk/run a predetermined two mile course in the neighborhood surrounding the YMCA or they can complete the two miles on the YMCA’s indoor track. There is no charge to participate and the walk is open to all area residents.

Participants are encouraged to complete the “Fun Walk” between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. to qualify for the drawing to be held at 4:15 p.m. for two pair of walking shoes courtesy of Mark Jackson’s Red Oak Hardware Hank. Participants will also be eligible for a drawing of two $25 Y-Buck Certificates.

    Results from “Caleb Dial” Elliott Fall Festival 5K Run & 2 Mile Run /Walk

The 12th Annual “Caleb Dial” Elliott Fall Festival 5K Run and 2 Mile Run/Walk which was coordinated by the Montgomery County Family YMCA and the Elliott Fall Festival Committee was held Saturday, August 28 in Elliott, Iowa.

The event drew a record 52  runners and walkers. The sponsors of this event are Elliott Businessmen & Betterment Association, Elliott Fall Festival Committee, Houghton State Bank, Candice & Eric Dial, Griswold Cooperative Telephone Co., Miller Farm Supply, United Group Insurance/Gade Insurance, Connie’s Beauty Shop, Ebert Corner Tree Farm.

All runners and walkers were treated to fresh fruit, courtesy of the Hy-Vee and Fareway Stores of Red Oak, Iowa.

Awards were given to the top three- (3) finishers in each age division of the 5K Run plus the top overall male and female finishers in both the 5K & 2-Mile.  The YMCA would like to thank the Elliott Fall Festival Committee and all the race/walk volunteers that made this event possible.

In the 5K competition, the overall male winner was Rick Zarkas of Red Oak with a time of 19:06 and the overall female winner was Lauren Moore of Griswold with a time of 20:23. In the 2-Mile competition, the overall male winner was Nick Zimmer of Red Oak with a time of 16:24 and the overall female winner was Rebekah Topham of Griswold with a time of 12:18.
