Fall Registration
Red Oak All-Star Cheer and Dance Teams!

Cheerleaders learn cheers, dances, pom routines, stunting, tumbling, and jumps. The squad performs around the community at various events in uniform. Team colors are orange, black & white! Uniforms include formal top & skirt, bloomers, formal hair bow, metallic pom poms and customizing. Cheer Shoes and Cheer T-Shirts are optional and avialable for seperate fees. See Registration for pricing and sizing.
*Monthly cost: $30. $5 per month will be taken off monthly total for additional children from the same family.
Team Age Groups;
*All-Star Cheer and Dance Team:   2nd through 5th grade
*Middle School Cheer and Dance Team:   6th through 8th grade
*Practices are held on Thursdays from 5:15-6:30 at the YMCA for the 2nd-5th grade team, and the Middle School team. Pre-school age through 2nd graders practice at Wilson Perfoming Arts Center on Tuesdays from 5:15-6:00 P.M.  Advanced 2nd graders will be moved up into the All-Star Cheer and Dance Team at the Y.

Fall registration for the All-Star Team (2nd-5th Grade) and the Middle School Team (6th-8th Grade) is Thursday, August 26th from 5:30-6:30 P.M., or you may pre-register at the YMCA.
Fall Season for Pre-schoolers-2nd Grade starts Tuesday, September 7th at 5:15 P.M. Call or stop by Wilson Performing Arts Center for registration.

All classes are $25 per month and are held on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Classes are held in the multi-purpose room of the YMCA. You may sign up during the program as long as space is available. Please call Sara Johnson with questions at 623-2551!

Red Oak Optimist Club will be providing sports drinks to the participants.

Results of 27th Annual Kiwanis Closed Junior Tennis Tournament

Saturday, July 16 saw the completion of the YMCA’s 2010 summer youth tennis program with the 27th Annual Kiwanis Closed Tournament. Participants took part in short-court and regular singles competition and also in doubles competition.

Results:

Kiwanis 8 & under short-court singles: Instructor Brandon Updegrove, Nolan Snyder- 2nd place, Kaitlyn Ruhl – 1st place, Austin Wilkins – 3rd place and instructor Dylan Anderson.

Kiwanis 12 & under singles: Instructor Zoey Baker, Sean Griffen– 4th place, Tannah Halvin- 2nd place, Sarah Behrens- 1st place, Alyssa Wilkins- 3rd place and instructor Craig White.

Kiwanis 12 & under doubles: Instructor Zoey Baker, Kamryn & Michaela Buntrock- 2nd place, Tannah Halvin & Sarah Behrens- 1st place and instructor Craig White.


Kiwanis 14 & under singles: Instructor Brandon Updegrove, Micayla Taylor- 3rd place, Christopher Allison– 1st place, Vincent Breedlove– 2nd place and instructor Craig White.

FROM:  The Montgomery County Family YMCA

RE:YMCA Summer Volleyball Camp for 2nd – 8th grade students

The Montgomery County Family YMCA, in cooperation with the City of Red Oak Park & Tree Board, offered a two day Volleyball camp for girls entering 2nd - 8th grade on August 9 - 10 at Red Oak High School. Red Oak High School Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Angela Montgomery led the camp with assistance from junior varsity coach Sharon Allison and members of the high school volleyball team. Over 40 camp participants worked on various fundamental skills during the camp.

Mr. Kinard has an extensive background in teaching tennis to all age groups.  He has taught in Atlanta, Ga. at several country clubs and also served as Head Pro at the St. Marlo Country Club for fourteen years. He has been giving private lessons in the Red Oak area the past twelve years.
